Day 3 Discover Hong Kong: Tai O

In the afternoon, we headed off to Tai O

We took Tung Chung 11 public bus to Tai O at Citygate bus station
The bus driver was so friendly and helpful. He was willing to show us Tai O's direction
Bought "Calbee"potato chips. It was the well-known brands of snacks among Hong Kongers. At the end, we not ate it since the bus restricted any foods and beverages. Hong Kong really emphasized on cleanliness compared Malaysia.

1 hour bus ride caused me suffered from motion sickness. I was nausea, dizziness and mild headache due to the narrow and sharp bend roads along the way to Tai O. Not only that, the bus driver was in fast speed to show his efficiency. Thus, I can't talked with Naruto. She offered the sweets to make me felt better.

Naruto: Who say buying sweets from Guardian airport waste money?

Me: Speechless

Naruto: Nah, it plays an important role now.

Me: Speechless. OMG

A strong salty smells reminded I was at Tai O.
a lot fishing boats parked at the seaside upon reaching there
Buying 2 mineral waters to quench our thirsty
Yes, Tai O, I was coming
Giant cuttlefish
Different shapes of dry fish maws. It's my favorite and compulsory to have it on Chinese New Year Eve dinner every years.
All the dry fishes looked very big

Large quantities of fish maws all over the shop
Assorted of dry fishes
stalls after stalls of dry fish, fish maws along the street. So, the fish smells kissed over us

Not bad la in such fishing village had seafood restaurant
The sellers were so restless
grilled seafood
Naruto ordered her favorite grilled cuttlefish. The grilled cuttlefish was not crunchy and crispy at all.
Shrimp pastes of Tai O
Duck kidneys

Starfishes

Seriously, it was very narrow

I fancy this type of Cha Chaan Teng and wished to try but my stomach was very full at that time.
Quite surprise the kindergarten was on the street.
Barber shop
Older folks talked and rested. Life was so simple and contended

It reminded me TVB drama always caught bad guys in this scene
Stilt houses looked messy but produced a different view

Taking boat to watch pink dolphin. At first Naruto refused but I insisted to watch and paid the expenses also. I didn't want any regrets for not watching pink dolphin in Tai O .

For your information, several tour boats were offered such services and available in the harbor side.
Captain was very shocked when seeing us took photo. Meanwhile, the guy next to Captain also took our photo.
Naruto demonstrated me on how to shoot the ticket properly
Stilt houses along the river
Each stilt houses owned fishing boat. Tai O people relied on fishing for living

Luckily we caught a glimpse of Pink Dolphin within short seconds.
Eye catching view and left a memorable experience for us
Beautiful sunset view as Naruto's backdrop.
See you, Tai O. Hope to see you in next time.

Rice Box Hong Kong

We searched our lunch at Citygate outlets. It was not much dining options (e.g Japanese & Western restaurant ) in Citygate outlets and we also not interested on these restaurants. We wished to try the Hong Kong foods and beverages all the times. Other countries' cuisine could found in Malaysia too.

Thus, we randomly entered the supermarket for lunch hunting. Luckily, we spotted the economic mix rices stall. I had no idea how Hong Kongers called such rice stall and forgot to ask the auntie in charge. Both of us just looked at the meats, vegetables and wondered which should we had. Finally, we decided to order 2 single rice boxes. Each rice box had 1 type of meat or vegetables only (yes, I was very "kiam siap" (i.e stingy)

The customers took away the rice boxes. I can't see any dining tables and chairs.

3 types of rice boxes:

1) Single set (单拼)- 1 type of food
2) Double set (双拼) - 2 types of foods
3) Triple set. (三拼)- 3 types of foods

Once I saw the above food tag, really not understood and finally asked the guy next to me about these meaning. The price charged differently based on the types of rice boxes. Needless to say, single set of rice box was cheaper than double and trip set rice boxes.

All these foods looked similar with economic mix rice in Malaysia
Even the smells and cooking methods. I believed the taste buds of Hong Kongers alike Malaysians too. We can adapt the foods of Hong Kong easily and smoothly.

Wide varieties of fishcakes
Our thrifty side caused us to order 2 single set of rice boxes. Both of us can share with each other because the big portion of the rice boxes.

The first auntie shocked when saw us ordered 2 single rice boxes. She also clarified with us the meaning of single set rice box. She was not willing to serve us by showing the sour face when we insisted to have 2 single rice boxes. Hence, the second auntie in charge served us after that. The second auntie at least better than the first one because she displayed her smiles throughout the serving process. Will the second auntie understood us? Never mind, I was not expected Hong Kongers to understand us.
