Father meets Mr Red Nose

 **Updates** on 23 May 2012 (Part 2)

My father wish to meet his old friend, Mr Red Nose since my father will be back to Saratok on 2pm. He like to bersembang-sembang with Mr Red Nose when he comes to Kuching because they know each other so many years. Mr Red Nose also keeps the promise that he will come to fetch us 15 minutes later after 10am.

He uses the HILUX to take us to the MJC Batu Kawah. So many years never seeing Mr Red Nose, I found him become thinner due to getting older. Mr Red Nose decided to “bersembang-sembang at “Tian Yi Cafe” located at MJC Batu Kawah. My father treat him drinks while he treats himself. My father and I’s stomach still full, hence we just drink.

The topics of both of them are surrounded by the old friends, life, hobbies, family and so on. Mr Red Nose advises me not to be pressure and tension in finding a job. Try to be relax when finding a job. There is a lot of job posted in Internet. Thanks to Mr Red Nose’s advice.

** I will be happy if you could introduce a job for me!
** Actually Internet is posted a lot of jobs but I had received a lot of interview calls instead of report duty call!

Job Hunting Process

 **Updates**on 23 May 2012 (Part 1)

I am wake up on 4.30 am to get ready for the interview for Pegawai Pendidikan Pengajian Tinggi DH 41 in Wisma Satria BDC, Jalan Stutong, Kuching. I still sleepwalking when wake up such early. But what can I say because my elder uncle and his wife need to go to 3rd mile morning market to buy some chickens, pork, fish balls and so on for the kitchen usage. My elder uncle brings me to 3rd mile café to take my breakfast. I order “Kolok Mee” with “Cha Sau” oil. Actually, I wish to eat “Kueh Chap” the day before yesterday I had enjoy my hometown (Saratok)’s “Kueh Chap”.  We leave the café on 6.15 am. At 6.30 am, we reach at the Yong Fatt Restaurant because my elder uncle put down his wife in the restaurant before sending us to the Wisma Satria BDC. I am the earlier person to come to the Wisma Satria BDC because I arrive there on 6.45am. There is only security guard in there because most of the government servants not yet arrive.

The staffs are busy preparing for the interview registration
7.45am

Another rivals of me, we are the UMS graduates
Marking scale

Around 8am, the director of the interview, Mr Gxxxxx Sxxxx required all the candidates to go inside the interview room at the same time. There are only 5 candidates involved in the interview which is from the architect, hotel and catering, city and province planning background. Apparently, he wants this interview to be the forum. “There is not enough for you guys only know about the knowledge of your course, you guy must know and understand the general knowledge.” We are Malaysians, we must concern what’s happening in Malaysia. said Mr Gxxxxx Sxxxx. When I hear him said like that, I think I might have not chance to win this interview battle. In university, I seldom have the chance to read the newspaper. I only search for assignment materials when can surf the internet in university (I’ll admit I reluctant to use the time to check my FB, blog, and romantic novel compared to read the news)

Board of interviewees

The director of the interview started the interview by asking the current issue in Malaysia.

1. What is the name of 7th Sultan Malaysia?
Hints:
This sultan is generous because he gives the RM1000 for the each primary school student that comes to his palace when those students said they do not have money. He advises them use the money wisely instead of buying handphone and gameboy.
2.  What is the result of the banci penduduk Malaysia 2010? How many population that Malaysia wish to achieve in Wawasan 2020?
3.  What is the mission of the Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi?
4. What is PIPP?
5. How many Malaysia governments spend for road and infrastructure maintenance?

I found that all the candidates cannot answer the current issues questions. This included me. Mr. Gxxxxx Sxxxxx: “You guys never read the newspaper?” All of us just silent. One of my rivals of hotel and catering just said that we need money to buy TV and newspaper in order to observe the current news every day. In order to have money, we need to award this job. You’re right but in my opinion it is not suitable to express this kind of reason to the interviewee. Mr Gxxxxx Sxxxx deny the answer given by the candidates. Every answers that are given by the candidates are wrong, himself’s answer is correct. I told my father and he just console me actually his mind has the right candidates and the right answer. I take my father’s console into my heart.

The second male interviewee has thrown the questions about the hotel and catering. The interview is the representative from the politeknik and kolej komuniti

1. How many kolej komuniti in Sarawak? which state in Sarawak?
2. What is flow management? please further explain?
3. What products that can be promoted to attract more people join the hotel industry?

Actually the second interviewee still ask two more questions but I seem already forget! I am actually confident to answer those questions about the hotel and catering. However, I really irritate the second interviewee that teased me when I give me the answer. The other two rivals of me (hotel and catering) are giving the general answer instead of powerful answer. And the second interviewee just said “OK”. This sucks….

The third interviewee asks the question about the architect and city and province planning. The questions are:

1. How many types of politeknik in Malaysia?
Hints: It has politeknik primer
2. How you incorporate principles Rukun Negara into the silibus of politeknik?
3. Which building in Malaysia is build by architect in Malaysia?
4. Which building that you like most?Further explain?
5. Do you think planning a city and province need to focus on EIA?
6. What are the steps in EIA?

When she asks about the 2nd question, I think my father was very smart in spot the interview because he just remind me need to revise the principles Rukun Negara. Now the Rukun Negara questions has been questioned. What a coincidence!

At 9am, the interview ended with the appreciation of those interviewees towards the candidates that are willing to attend the interview although the interview venue is far away from their working places and hometown. Once I step out from the interview room, I do not want to expect anything from this job…….be usual….

Unexpected guests

 **Updates** on 22 May 2012 (part 2)

From left: Mr Pork Seller & his son (Ah Choi)

My father and I are going to Kuching for my government job interview. We will stay in elder uncle’s house in Kuching (located in Desa Wira, MJC). Due to the business operating reason, his house does not have any people. Therefore we need to come to his restaurant.

There is the arrival of my elder uncle’s wife ‘s brother and his son in the restaurant. He is the pork seller in Roban (Mr Pork Seller) while his son is worked as a car seller in one of the car firm in Kuching. I recognize that his son is my classmate in S.M.K. Kalaka Roban, Mr Law Sze Chai. I recalled my memories when I hear his father and my elder uncle’s wife call him as “Ah Choi”. I also do not understand why myself lack of passion to greet with him. I pretend do not know his existence in the restaurant and just continue reading newspaper. There is no sound of reunion happiness once I notice my secondary school’s classmate. Besides that, he is very distracted with his smartphone.

I really do not respect such unpolite people when just kept on looking at his smartphone without greet with anyone. The greeting of him is “Gu Gu, I want Kopi Peng”. That’s all.  When my elder uncle’s wife started to serve us the lunch, he just leaves the table with the excuse of want to take something. Mr pork seller seem want to wait his son for the lunch, but I’m ignored and just started to enjoy my lunch and picking the food for my father. I do not want such kind of people spoilt my lunch’s mood.

The lunch
Both of them are Orang Roban.

Mr pork seller: Why coming to Kuching?

Father: Accompany my daughter to an interview for tomorrow.

Mr pork seller: private or government’s interview?

Father: Government. She is applying for the lecturer in the politeknik and kolej komuniti. Now she is pursuing her master degree in West Malaysia

Mr Pork Seller: She uses her master degree or bachelor degree to apply for this job?

Father: Bachelor degree.

Mr Pork Seller: Nowadays the teaching or education line has the bright future. Many graduates in the West Malaysia such as engineering and medicine also unemployed and switch to education line. She is in West Malaysia, suppose know such situation. (one of the daughter of Mr Pork seller is the English lecturer in the Yayasan Melaka.)

Father: You’re right. More higher qualifications, the more difficult to get the job. Like my 2nd daughter, she is offered the opportunity to pursue her Phd or Medicine doctor’s course in the Cyberjaya. I just ask her to apply for the medicine doctor’s course because there is the guaranteed medicine doctor for her. She still need to looking for the job once finish the Phd studies.

Mr Pork Seller: I agree.
(He is kept on picking and transferring the Lok Bak to his plate and required me to eat more)

Me: Hehe, its too oily

Elder uncle’s wife: you must eat.

Mr pork seller: We must eat although it’s high in cholesterol. It’s the fate if we will die in the next moment. Must eat as much as possible.

Me: silence (I had been in University for 4 years, lack of eating the pork, I just like to eat the sayur-sayuran, scared with Mr Pork Seller’s mouth-watering facial expression towards the pork and Lok Bak  )

Father: Do you know the news of one of the Kabong rich man? His 3 of sons had been died in the car accident?

Mr Pork Seller: Ya, Ya I hear….their car is the Ninja King which RM 30 thousand…they drunken drive the car and hit the trailer. They died on the spot scene.

Me: silence (father kept on telling everyone about that the 3 sons of the Kabong old man’s car accident once he met with anyone.)Father is the talkative people. Maybe he is the friendly type that likes to know more friends and talk to them to kill his leisure time

********************************************************************************

After tired waiting in the restaurant, my father and I decided to walk around the MJC. Below is the random pictures that I had took.

The heir of Tay's family

** Updates** on 22 May 2012 (part 1)

He is the heir of my Tay's family. For your information, my grandfather has 3 sons: elder uncle, daddy and younger uncle. My elder has 4 daughters and 1 son while my daddy has 5 daughters. My younger uncle is the diamond bachelor. It is clearly showed that the son of my cousin, Arista will be the heir in my Tay's family currently. Who knows my cousin and his wife will produce more sons.

Really like his eyes!
Super like this kind of his facial expression!

Play with red cloth
Play with his own fingers

The arrogant facial expression

Playing with his pipit

Actually he wants to pull the towel
He successfully pull down the towel

He changes the new set of clothes. Nothing he could play just play with father's hands.
Father said he play his fingers by "cubit+cubit" besides holding his hands. Quite pain because he has energy
See, he is very very happy since my father's hand now become his toy

Mouth-watering for milk?????

I love you, do you love me????
Within few seconds, his body gestures changed a lot. My father said he likes a "Sago Worm" because he will not behave properly. He really likes to move here and there.

My father need to take off his spectacles because he will grab it. (see his eager eyes)

He likes a police that investigate the property that inside my father's pocket

Arista could be found in this Yong Fatt Restaurant from morning 7am until 5pm every day. My elder uncle’s wife will look after her grandson since my cousin and his wife are busy with their own career. Needless to say, he is more close to my elder uncle’s wife, the 2 servants of the restaurant, and the Harina Consultancy Services’ female employees (they are the usual customers in the restaurant).   He display his big smile when is surrounded by the female employees of the Harina Consultancy Service. They will kiss him, kept on calling him name-Arista, Arista, Arista………….He still cannot speak in the complete sentences. He just knows how to express his baby sound and gestures. If the adults still cannot understand what he demands, he will cry loudly as a means to communicate with them.

Arista does not like to sleep. From 7am until 5pm in the restaurant, he only sleeps for 3 or 4 hours. The rest of the time he is in the baby coat, crying, asking his grandmother to bring him to walk around the restaurant. According to his grandmother (my elder uncle’s wife), although he is so tired because lack of sleep (maybe his energy is depleted), he still want to walking around the restaurant.  Sometimes he wants to sleep at the unsuitable time, for instance, when his grandfather (my elder uncle) wants to pick them back to home. His grandmother likes to “cubit” his eyes when she faces such headache situation. The grandmother of Arista has the trouble putting down Arista for naps or getting back to sleep when he has been wakened. In my opinion, a sleeping baby can be a heartwarming peaceful sight. However, when it comes to Arista I’m sure that he will frequently moon, grimper, whimper and kick in their sleep. All of this can be disconcerting to his grandmother.

After doing nothing but crying and sleeping, Arista rewards them with his REAL smile. It makes it all worth it. All the family members love the little boy so much. I belief that even though the grandfather and grandmother are not their parents, they have the same concerns and worries like the parents towards the baby grow because the family relationship.  Family relationship is are stronger than anything like the saying “blood is thicker than water”
