All Angles Church & San Seng Gong & Restaurant Seafood Sim Sim

Our next visit in Sandakan was All Angles Church. We were rounding the church building instead of entering.

This church was the oldest building in Sandakan and the survivor building in the World War II.  The main attraction of this church was the beautiful stain glass windows

All Angles Church
"San Seng Gong" that also avoided from damage during World War II. Due to the hungriness (in 12 noon, we left for hunting food)

According to taxi driver, Sandakan has a lot of seafood restaurant. He suggested us to go for Sim Sim seafood restaurant compared to "Restaurant Ocean King Seafood" (海上皇)due to the reasonable price. "Restaurant Ocean King Seafood" attract a lot of tourists thus will charge the higher prices.

Sim Sim seafood restaurant  was a floating seafood restaurant.

Local fishermen families live in the wooden houses.

Local fishermen will sell the fresh seafood to the Sim Sim Seafood Restaurant once they dock at the jetty.

I also found that most of the locals loaded here to choose varieties of fresh seafoods. It might due to the cheaper price in the wet market.

As a patrons of Sim Sim Seafood Restaurant, I purchase a 2 types of seafood, Sapak and Prawn available and request the chef to cook as I prefer.

Actually I wished to buy more fresh seafoods but Mama not allow. She said how could I commit such killing alive seafood for the sake of myself. It's sinful. She further explained for those fishermen and the restaurant owner that had to choose killing as their occupation must practices "animal release" or "release living beings". They had accumulated negative karma by taking lives. Mama kept on instilled me the Buddhist values. Everything that happen in our life was the result of causes and effect. Nothing happens in the random. Every action resulted the we experiences in the future. By not committing killing, we ensure that our self not the killing victims. Likewise I was robbed in 24 August 2012, because of I robbed the people in the past. That's the reason I suffer this misfortune.

Finally, we selected the dieing prawn and sapak. I consumed whole plate of sapak. Mama not willing to do so since the sapak still alive.   Mama just ate the dieing prawn that cooked with salt.

Sapak that cook with ginger and onion

I would not go back to Restaurant Seafood Sim Sim if I had an opportunity. I was not enjoyed my seafood here because of its services. We waited for 45 minutes for two seafood dishes. The other customers ( 8 or 9 persons per table) that late than us had started their seafood meals. The nasty lady boss also forced us to increase the weight of the sapak to 1 or 2kg (I picked 1/2 kg sapak), if not she will charge the 1kg price of sapak.

Isn't she felt that we were not the Canton speaking customers and slashed us for the seafood prices. Or she totally hated 2 persons that ordered little seafood?

Hokkien Temple Jee Deck Dian

Since we told the taxi driver we loved to visit temple, he highly recommended us the famous Hokkien temple, Jee Deck Dian in Sandakan.

I was quite curious about Hokkien Temple. Wasn't the Buddhist temples were divided based on the Chinese origin. While we reached the front gate of this temple, I realized " Hong San Tze" also existed in Roban and Saratok, whereby most the residents were Hokkien.

Welcome to Hong San Tze Kong Teck Chung Ong, Sandakan
Moved towards the uphill of the temple

The main attraction in the Hokkien temple was the "holy bed" for the infertile women. According to the taxi driver, once the infertile women slept on the "holy bed", she was believed to be awarded a son

Peace and prosperity, good weather
