Krabi Getaway

Update on **23 December 2015-26 December 2015**

2 days before Christmas, JoJo (3rd sister) and me went to Krabi for relaxation beach holiday. This time we travelled by land from University Utara Malaysia (UUM). Approximately 20 minutes, we reached Bukit Kayu Hitam immigration Malaysia followed by Sadao Immigration check point. After that, we called taxi in Dannok (i.e a town after the Sadao Immigration check point) headed to Hatyai.

With less than 1 hour, we arrived in Hatyai and overnight at there. In the next day morning, we departed to Krabi by using minivan service. The journey took 4 hours and 1pm we were in Krabi town. From Krabi town we boarded Songtaew (i.e a type of vehicle with 2 bench seats at the back of the truck to accommodate the passengers) and send us to Ao Nang beach area.

Where to Stay?

Nemo 2 Resort

Since we were budget conscious travelers, we opted to stay 3 days 2 nights in Krabi Nemo House, Ao Nang. 1 night cost RM 138.46 for 1 standard room.

For your information, Krabi (also known as Khabi for Thais) had 2 areas, Krabi town and Ao Nang. Ao Nang was 500km away from Krabi town. Ao Nang was very happening on nights and had the great beaches compared Krabi town. However, the living costs of Ao Nang definitely higher than Krabi town due to tourist spots.

We assigned to stay in Nemo 2 guesthouse. It had 2 guesthouses namely Nemo 1 and Nemo 2. According to the owner, Miss Fon, Nemo 1 opened 1 year ago while Nemo 2 just newly opened 3 days ago.
The owner, Miss Fon told us the guesthouse business very good. It had demand from the tourists throughout the year.
We needed to pay 100 Thai Baht for the breakfast included 2 sausages, 2 toast breads and 2 fried eggs.
First in my lifetimes stayed in such nice architecture of guesthouses
It looked like the entrance of my terrance house in Saratok, Sarawak
The room was very spacious and comfortable
All the furniture were in good condition
The mobile phone provided by the Miss Fon to call her send us back to guesthouse after shopping nearby Ao Nang beaches. The guesthouse was far away from the beaches areas.

like:

1) The room was very clean while the beds was comfortable.
2) The helpful and friendly owner, Miss Fon. She arranged the island hopping tour and also the Ao Nang-Danok minivan ticket for us. It was very convenient for the travelers and totally save our precious times.
3) Providing the free tuk tuk services from morning until 10pm everyday for the guests to go to Ao Nang beaches. It make us don't mind to stay there although it's far from the beaches areas.
4) Providing the free mobile phones to call the guesthouses for sending us back to guesthouse.
5) The other staff in the guesthouses also very friendly. The staff included Miss Fon always greeted us, put the smile on their faces and solves our inquiries within the short times. I felt welcomed and warm when stayed in the guesthouses.
6) The staff can spoke the fluent English. We didn't have any problems when communicating with them
7)  There was a 24 hours convenience store opposite the guesthouse and we always bought tidbits and snacks over there as our supper.

I dislike:

1) The linens of the bed in the guesthouses were not the cotton type. It made our skin very itchy
2) A lot of mosquitoes when we didn't shut down our main doors. I even heard the buzzing sound of mosquitoes at the midnight. It was so annoying and irritating.

What to Do?

1) Hong Island Tour

We had 1 day Hong island tour after recommending by Miss Fon. Hong island was less tourists and not so crowded. We paid 750 Thai Baht for Miss Fon and 300 Thai Baht for entrance fees in Hong Beach. We were brought to 4 islands namely Hong Lagoon, Hong Beach, Lading Island and Daeng Island. The tour ended on 4.30pm and the boat company send us back to our guesthouse respectively.

The long tail boat owner, Mr Brownie fetched us at 9am.
Our tour guide for Hong Island tour was Miss Beyonce. She reminded us not to bring any sands onto the long tail boats.
Super happy to explore the first stop of Hong Island, Hong Lagoon
 Hong Lagoon
Grabbing the opportunity to take photo in the front boat

We decided to swim by using life jackets because I didn't know how to swim. However, under the coaching from Miss Beyonce, we managed to learn some swimming skills.  Both of us were overjoy when knew how to float in the water
Hong Beach
White sands and crystal clear water really amazed me
 colorful kayak
May Nemo fishes free and happy
We took not much photos at Hong Beach since we were very sad in losing our snorkeling googling mask.
So we compensated Mr Brownie 1000 Thai Baht. A good lesson for the first timer of snorkeling like me.
Lading Island. Traditionally, this was the place for locals and not opened to tourists. Now, they had been shifted to another island and this island also allowed the tourists to visit
The swing were fully occupied by Caucasians
A lot of long tail boats parked there to wait the tourists
JoJo and long tail boats

Not have the good bodyline but insisted to shoot one. Good or bad was part of my memories
So relaxing and it was a perfect soul therapy
Thankful our boatman that helped us take this photo.
The good boatman that offered to help both of us to take photo. We were so stingy and not even offered tips for him
1 more front boat photo with beachwear
At Daeng Island with no beach. Our boat just parked at the middle of the sea to let the tourists for 20 minutes snorkeling. It's famous for the coral reefs. Both of us not dare to swim in the middle of the sea thus stayed in the boat for camwhoring
We watched the boatman caught the fresh squid from the sea. So lively and interesting for me.

2) Shopping around Ao Nang beaches

limestone cliff could be seen everywhere
During evening, tourists all out for dinner hunting
limestone cliff again

3) Thai Massage

When came to Thailand must try its traditional Thai massage.
Most of the massage parlous offered the same prices

What to Eat?

1) Banana Pancake

Trying the banana pancake but the pancake skin was very salty.

2) Grilled Seafoods

 Grilled seafoods
We bought the grilled chicken and corn. The grilled chicken was very flavorful meanwhile the corn smelled nice.

3) Fried Rice

Squid fried rice. The portion was very small and costs 50 Thai Baht.
Prawn fried rice

4) Pad Thai

Sadly, this pad thai was tasteless and not aromatic
