Lee Chin's Secret Garden: Some paintings

These collections of paintings are made by Me, Rosamond, JoJo. Me and Rosamond are responsible for the watercolor paintings, while JoJo is making the Crayon paintings.

10 years ago, while I’m in form 2, Rosamond in form, JoJo in primary five, Mama sent us to the painting class in Sarikei. The wife of my father’s friend is conducting the painting class. If I am not mistaken, she is the only one in Sarikei that conducting the painting class (Located in the upstairs of Standard Chartered). Currently, there is no Standard Chartered in Sarikei anymore. She stayed in Sarikei, needless to say she is Foochew woman.

Watercolour painting is categorized into 5 stages of basic techniques. The early 4 stages is about the paintings of the scenery, jungle and mountain view while the final stages is drawing the portrait. Drawing the portrait is the most difficult part compared to the previous stage because drawing portrait propositions and features requires some hard works besides the tutorial of the drawing teacher.

* Until now, I still hate my painting class teacher (the foochew wife) because she is bias with th foochew students.

* The foochew students have better treatment compared to Hokkien students. When my watercolour painting is not achieve her standards, she will comment and critized with her rude foochew sound.

* She just remain silent when the foochew students’ painting standards is just so so.

Like the typical tuition teacher that wanted to have more students to increase her profit margin without considerate the abilities of teaching more students in one time. Two of her son will become her tutor to help her to teach the fellow students but her sons are very shy and even not courage to look and explain the painting theory to the students’ especially female students. She is producing the timid and coward sons. Of course, when there is more students to come and she is not able to teach us, we need to learn by our own. So difficult, I’m not the creative and clever people, cannot paint just by looking at the sample pictures!

I had been spent 2½ years time to complete all the basic techniques of watercolor paintings. After 2 ½ years, my hard work had paid off.

p/s: a millions thanks to Mama that afford to sent us to the painting class. Mama initiates the intention to send us to the painting class when she found my paintings and drawing is below her expectations. (I will sob when the teacher require me to draw and paint).
